Top 5 Easy to Grow Flowers

As soon as we began to grow flowers, questions began to come in from budding gardeners regarding what flowers to grow. A previous black thumb can keep want-to-be flower gardeners hesitant in the planting.

Fear not! From one previous black thumb, to another, there are several flowers that are crazy easy to grow and will reward you with the joy of their blooms.

My top 5 are:
1. Zinnias (I once planted them and a patch of wild weeds grew up around them, I was sure I had lost them but sure enough-they still bloomed!)
2. Cosmos-These wild girls will need some support, but they are prolific and go well into the fall, even with light frosts.
3. Calendula-An incredible companion plant, these eager producers can be used for both bouquets and tinctures. They are such a delightful happy flower.
4. Sunflowers-While they feed deeply from the soil, I find these to be consistently easy to produce. If you give them enough space and good light, (Full sun!) they are happy as can be. Just be sure the chipmunks don't get to them first!
5. Amaranth-These cool spikes are so easy to grow, there's some varieties that are invasive! I have grown these every year, and as long as you ensure they don't get choked out by weeds, they produce cool spikes to make your flower bouquets very interesting. Plus, they can be eaten (although I've never eaten them myself.)

Take a pick from any of these easy to grow flowers, and soon enough you'll continue to add more!

  2. It's ideal to look at online flowers before you pick an internet based flower vendor. However, it tends to be confounding to know where the best places to get flowers on the web.
